Pori Moni is an actress and model in Bangladesh. Her real name is Samsun Nahar. She was born on 24 October 1992, in Narail. Though, she was moved to Pirojpur in 1995, and there she spent most of her childhood. She started her career as a model in 2012. Within few months, she got huge attention, thanks to her Facebook account. She posted pictures of herself, which is considered to bold in Bangladeshi cultural standard. She made her acting debut in small screen in 2013, and within a short span of time she started working in films. Within a year, she already signed for more than 20 films.

Pori Moni was born  in Kalia in Narail district of Khulna division, on 24 October 1992. Her father was a Businessman and mother was a housewife. In 1995, when she was only 3 years old, her mother passed away. Then, she moved to Pirojpur, to live with her grandparents. She passed her SSC and HSC from there. Her grandfather is a retired teacher and grandmother is a housewife. From the childhood she wanted to be an actress, which was her aim in life. After her HSC, she moved to Dhaka in 2011.

Pori Moni started modelling in 2011, just few months after she moved to Dhaka. Though, she got huge attention through her Facebook account. She posted pictures of herself, which is considered to bold in Bangladeshi cultural standard. She faced many criticism for that, but with that she was gaining wide attention.

Pori Moni headlined in 2013, as she was signed for the movie “Rana Plaza”, where she is the lead actress. The film is based on the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster. It tells the love story of a male garment worker and Reshma, the woman who survived 17 days in the rubble, against the backdrop of the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster. This true story based movie is directed by Nozrul Islam Khan. Saimon Sadik and Pori Moni are the lead actors. Though, in 27th May 2014, Bangladesh censor board has objected to release the film ‘Rana Plaza’. The sensor board members have objected the release of the film after the screening. They have included that Rana Plaza tragedy is a national issue. People might get a wrong message if a film is made on this. However, Pori Moni started her acting career with the film “Rana Plaza”, she already made small screen debut before releasing the film. Her debut TV Drama Serial is “Second Innings”.

Pori Moni is currently busy acting in the Movie “Innocent Love”. Leading cast are Jeff and Pori Moni. Jeff has acted in a Film three years ago, “Jibone Tumi Morone Tumi”. Pori Moni has acted in “Rana Plaza” before, but it is not released till now. The film has been directed by Apurbo Roy and Rana and will be released under Jahin Films. Other cast includes, Sohel Rana, Suchorita, Miju Ahmed, Subrata, Amir Siraji, Kabila, Jhinuk, Habib Khan, Sharif Chowdhury and many more.

Porimoni has paired up with Bappi for the very first time in Faruk Omar’s upcoming film ‘Lover Number One’. The film is written by Kashem Ali Dulal. The other casts of the film includes Misha Soudagar, Aliraaz, Rebecca and others. The film is being produced by Matrichaya Films. The name of the film might be changed to ‘Prem Na Protishodh’, informs the producer.

Pori Moni is working alongside two of the Bangladeshi movie legends Razzaq and Moushumi and small screen legend Afzal Sharif in the film “Mon Jane Na Moner Thikana” by Mushfiqur Rahman. The movie is about conjoined twin sisters. They have to spend their life along with each other. The story takes a turn when one of the sister is accused of a murder.

Pori Moni is also working in Wajed Ali Sumon’s film “Amar Mon Jure Tui”. The film is heavily hyped because, it will mark the return of Bangladeshi Action Legend Rubel into acting after a long time. The audiences will be able to see Rubel in a completely new avatar. Amrita-Sabuj Khan, Porimoni-Shah Riaz will be acting together for the first time.

Pori Moni’s ‘Valobasha Shimahin’ by Shah Alam, ‘Innocent love’ by Apurbo Rana, ‘Rana Plaza’ by Nazrul Islam, ‘Amar Mon Jure Tui’ by Wajed Ali Shumon are in post-production stage. The shooting of the movies ‘Surprise’ by F I Manik, ‘Mon jane na moner thikana’ by Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and ‘Valobashar onek jala’ by Faruk Omor will started already.
